Part 1. Everything About Friends

Friends series, as an American television sitcom, was first released on September 22, 1994, and finished on May 6, 2004. It contains 10 seasons, 236 episodes in total. Since Friends was on the air, it received acclaim for its humorous and wonderful plots which also made it become one of the most popular television shows of all time. The show revolves around three young men and three young women who live in Manhattan, New York City.

Rachel Green is a fashion enthusiast and Monica Geller's best friend from childhood. After Rachel moves in with Monica, she gets a job as a waitress at the coffee house Central Perk.

Phoebe Buffay is a masseuse and self-taught musician who writes and sings her own quirky songs. She has three serious relationships over the show's run.

Monica Geller is a chef, known for her bossy, competitive, and obsessive-compulsive nature. Phoebe Buffay is a masseuse and self-taught musician.

Part 2. Funny Facts You Might Not Know About Friends

Apart from the show itself, there are other three funny things you might not know about Friends.

1. Friends was not the original name for the show

Back to the early ‘90s, the creators of Friends, David Crane, and Marta Kauffman wrote a seven-page script for Insomnia Café. In addition to the different title, the plot was also quite different from what we know as Friends.

After NBC bought the pilot, the title became Friends Like Us. However, by the time they shot the show, the title had changed again to Six Of One. Eventually, when the show premiered on September 22, 1994, they decided on the simple title of Friends.

2. The cast could have been much different

There are many different actors pursuing a cast of only six people and they were actually considered for each role. For example, both Jon Favreau and Jon Cryer were considered for the role of Chandler before it went to Matthew Perry. What's more, Courteney Cox was originally asked to play Rachel, but she requested the role of Monica.

3. Lisa Kudrow didn't like playing guitar at first

"I didn't like the guitar. I wasn't getting it. So I think I even asked, ‘What if she plays the bongos?'" Kudrow later recalled. So they ended up bringing a guitar teacher in, but that didn't last long. Kudrow learned a couple of chords, then announced that she was done with the lessons. Good thing is that "Smelly Cat" is perfect just the way it is.
