Recently, many acquaintances around me are starting to learn Chinese, so do I. To boost my language learning, I have started to listen to popular Chinese songs. Now I found I have fallen in love with Chinese songs. So here I want to introduce to you some of my favorite Chinese singers and songs. Part 1. Jay Chou - 周杰倫
As a Taiwanese singer-composer, Jay Chou has received more than ten music awards every year on average and has held 100 concerts since his debut. His success can’t leave his incredible effort – composing 50 songs in just 10 days. Jay Chou pioneered a new genre called “Zhongguo Feng”, which made him known to every family and popular for more than a decade! The lyrics of his songs are even compiled into primary school’s textbook. Listening to Jay Chou’s best Chinese songs, you would absolutely jump into the bundles charm of Chinese language.

As a singer-composer, Ronghao Li is getting more and more attention in the Mandopop universe recently. In 2014, Li Ronghao was shortlisted for the Taiwan Golden Opera Award for his single "模特". Later, his name got to known to Chinese audiences because of his excellent performance on one of Chinese large musical program called “I am a singer”. But the way to his success are not so smooth. He has experienced many suffering such as dropout, family member’s death, etc. He wrote his personal experience into his songs. So when you listen to Ronghao Li’s songs, you would find his songs are filled with self-mockery and sadness.
Part 3. G.E.M - 鄧紫棋
G.E.M has debut as a singer at a very young age. Because of her perfect performance the musical program “I am a Singer”, she become in favor in China immediately. As early as when she was 24, she has held 80 solo vocal concerts. What’s more, she has countless musical achievements – won Billboard Radio Annual Artist award and ranked top 11 in 2015 Forbes list of Chinese celebrities. G.E.M. is famous for her high-tone beautiful voice. And because of this she has been called “The Queen with a Large Lung” by Chinese audience.
Part 4. Joker Xue - 薛之谦
Joxer Xue is a Chinese pop male singer and prolific music producer. Other musical producers comment him as one of the best songwriters in China. At early stage, his music is dominated by sad love songs. But later, his musical theme becomes more realistic and musical styles more diverse. The number of listeners of Joxer Xue’s songs exceeds that of any other Chinese male singers in 2018. People in China would definitely sing his songs when go to karaoke. There are even many cover versions of Joxer Xue’s songs by other stars.
Part 5. Tiger Hu - 胡彥斌
Tiger Hu is an all-around music producer and singer. In 1999, 16-year-old Tiger Hu took part in the "Shanghai Asian Music Festival New Singer Competition" and debuted. In 2000, he released his first single “玛丽莲梦露” , which reached the sales volume of 0.6 million. Due to this single, he became the favorite singers among students. In 2002, he released his first personal album “文武双全” and became the first Chinese singer to release personal albums in the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. By the end of 2002, the sales volume of this album had reached more than 250000 copies in the mainland market. Tiger Hu is also the first mainland artist to hold a ticketed concert in Taiwan.
